Elektron Outbox 8 – Eight Separate Outs for Your Elektron Rig

A Digitakt II or Digitone II can run 16 voices and still leave the studio through one stereo pair. Outbox 8 fixes that: eight configurable 1/4 inch outputs that carry audio, CV or any mix of the two, over a single USB-C connection. It is aimed at producers who mix on a desk, run modular alongside a groovebox, or want individual tracks out for processing, and at Soundium it sits alongside the rest of the Elektron range.

Key Features

  • Eight configurable outputs: Assign each of the eight 1/4 inch jacks to audio or CV in any combination the connected machine allows.
  • Individual track outs: Send single tracks to an external mixer, outboard effects, monitors or a second recorder instead of a summed stereo pair.
  • USB MIDI to CV converter: Drive modular and other CV instruments with pitch, gate, trig, linear value and clock signals from your machine, DAW or MIDI controller.
  • Standalone eight-out interface: Class-compliant USB audio means a computer, tablet or phone sees it as an eight-output interface with no driver install.
  • DC-coupled, impedance-balanced outs: 48 kHz 32-bit converters and a plus/minus 5 V CV range keep audio clean and control voltages accurate.
  • In-device or web app setup: Configure it from the front panel of supported Elektron boxes, or from the browser-based Outbox 8 Web App for everything else.

Customer Benefits

Multitrack routing changes how a groovebox behaves in a room. Kick and bass can go to their own channels for separate compression, a hi-hat can take a hardware delay, and the rest can stay on the main pair, all without bouncing stems first. Because the same eight jacks can output control voltage, one box also handles modular duties, so a Digitone II or a laptop can sequence a Eurorack case without a dedicated MIDI-to-CV module. At 176 mm wide and 0.35 kg it fits between the machines already on the desk, and it draws power over USB-C.

Ideal For

  • Compact eight-output monitoring and routing setups

Compatibility

Multitrack audio and CV work with Overbridge-enabled machines: Digitakt I/II, Digitone I/II/Keys, Syntakt, Analog Rytm MKI/MKII and Analog Four MKI/MKII/Keys, plus Tonverk with limited functionality. In-device setup is available on Digitakt I/II, Digitone I/II/Keys, Syntakt, Analog Rytm MKII and Analog Four MKII, while the rest are configured from the browser-based Outbox 8 Web App. Model:Samples and Model:Cycles pass main-output audio only, and Octatrack MKI/MKII, Machinedrum and Monomachine use it for MIDI to CV through a class-compliant MIDI to USB interface. Many other class-compliant USB MIDI and audio devices also work, depending on manufacturer and firmware.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Eight true separate outs from machines that otherwise give you one stereo pair
  • Audio and CV share the same jacks, so one box covers mixing and modular
  • Class-compliant, so a laptop, tablet or phone needs no drivers
  • Bus-powered and small enough to live permanently on a crowded desk

⚠️ Cons:

  • Outputs only, there are no inputs, so it will not replace a recording interface
  • Tonverk works with limited functionality: high audio streaming latency and no in-device setup
  • Model:Samples and Model:Cycles can only route audio from the main outputs
  • Devices without in-device support need the browser Web App, which requires Web MIDI

If your Elektron machine has more voices than it has outputs, Outbox 8 is the piece that lets the rest of your studio hear them. Find the Elektron Outbox 8 at Soundium, backed by a 3-year Elektron warranty.
