Adam Audio Sub8 PRO – Networked 8-Inch Studio Subwoofer

The Sub8 PRO is the compact entry to ADAM Audio's networked Sub PRO line: a front-firing 8″ subwoofer with a 200 W Class D amplifier, onboard 96 kHz DSP and an Ethernet port that opens up ADAM Control and Sonarworks SoundID Reference calibration. It reaches down to 26 Hz (-6 dB), takes analog or AES3 digital signal, and switches between Stereo, LFE and Wide modes, so the same box works under a desktop stereo pair or inside an immersive rig. At Soundium we see it as the natural low-end partner for A Series and other compact nearfield systems where space is tight but the bass still has to be trusted.

Key Features

  • High-excursion 8″ woofer: Fiber-reinforced paper cone with an elasticated rubber surround and 35 mm voice coil for long, controlled cone travel
  • 200 W RMS Class D (PWM) amplifier: 325 W peak, driven by 96 kHz DSP that handles crossovers, filtering and equalisation
  • ADAM Control over Ethernet: Free software for gain, phase, delay (0 to 10 ms) and 4-band parametric EQ, plus firmware updates
  • Sonarworks SoundID Reference integration: Calibration filters from SoundID Reference can be deployed straight to the subwoofer's DSP, as on ADAM's A Series monitors
  • Analog and digital inputs: 2× XLR/TRS combo inputs and XLR AES3 digital input up to 24-bit/96 kHz, with 2× XLR and AES3 outputs to your monitors
  • Stereo, LFE and Wide modes: Classic 2.1 bass management, an LFE mode (<120 Hz) tailored to Dolby Atmos systems, or full available range
  • FEA-optimised front bass port: Port curvature modelled with Finite Element Analysis for consistent air speed and less turbulence at high levels
  • Footswitch bypass input: Toggle bass management via a TRS footswitch (not included)

Customer Benefits

Small rooms are where bass goes wrong first. The Sub8 PRO gives you the tools to fix that properly: time-align the sub to your mains, notch out room modes with four bands of EQ, or load a measured SoundID Reference profile, all without leaving your chair. The backplate still offers level, phase, crossover and input selection for quick setups, so you can start simple and calibrate deeper when you are ready.

Use Cases / Ideal For

Home and project studios running compact nearfields such as the A4V or A7V, producers who need to hear sub-bass in electronic and hip-hop mixes, and small immersive or post-production rooms that need a networked, calibratable LFE channel.

Compatibility

Works with any active monitors via balanced XLR or TRS, or digitally via AES3. ADAM Control runs on macOS and Windows and also manages ADAM A Series monitors on the same network, so a full A Series plus Sub PRO system can be calibrated from one application.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Network calibration with ADAM Control and SoundID Reference built into the DSP
  • AES3 digital input alongside analog XLR/TRS
  • LFE and Wide modes make it ready for immersive and full-range setups
  • Compact cabinet for its 26 Hz extension

⚠️ Cons:

  • No RCA or other unbalanced consumer inputs
  • Full calibration needs a computer on the network (and a measurement mic for SoundID Reference)

The Adam Audio Sub8 PRO brings the calibration tools of a large studio to a subwoofer that fits under a desk. Pair it with your monitors and order it from Soundium for a low end you can finally rely on.
