It's refreshing to see a clear concept chosen: playing music created exclusively by women. This strong aproach deserves high marks for originality. At times, the mixing feels slightly tentative, relying on loops of very short sections, and transitions can occasionally seem a bit rushed, yet the overall execution remains precise. The selection is impressive, as maintaining a unified sound with such specific criteria is no easy task. While there were a few mistakes, they are outweighed by the charisma and positive energy that run throughout the set.

The original 2025 contest rules & FAQ

So what is the course of the contest?

First, you had to register and select the time slot when you would arrive at our store in Vilnius to record your DJ mix. Yes, this meant that you had to physically come to our store to do that. The registration process opened 2025 10 13 and ended 2025 10 26. We were not able to provide time slots for participants who did not register in advance. When you arrived at our store, you had to have your music with you! The mix was recorded live (both video and audio). The recorded video was featured on our YouTube channel 1-2 days after the mix. Recording of DJ mixes started 2025 10 27 and ended 2025 11 27. After recording the mix, each participant had to provide us with a playlist of the mix by filling out a special form, and could write a couple of sentences about the mix as well. The winners were selected 2025 12 04 and announced on our socials.

Any requirements for the genres?

No! We did not limit this contest to specific genres. Of course, many DJs mix electronic music, but this was not a necessary condition for participation. What you chose to mix was up to you. We just asked you to find the time to come in and demonstrate your talent + skills.

Why TF must I mix in 3 tracks from 2025?

This contest is planned to happen each year and we needed to think of one detail that would separate yearly contests, so we decided to go with this. It's a challenge, but it's doable. We were not saying those 2025 tracks had to be the key tracks of your DJ mix, but they had to be in it. Hopefully it lets us see how the music mutates through the years (or doesn't - but that's also a very interesting thing to observe).

Did I have to pay to participate?

No, the contest was free entry.

How much time did I have for the mix?

You got a 1,5 hour slot (1 hour 30 minutes) for EVERYTHING. Your mix had to be ±1 hour long. The remaining 30 minutes were for you to calm down, manifest your affirmations or do whatever you do before starting to DJ, and then you had the time to come back to Earth after your mix. We also needed some time to air out the DJ booth so the next participant could come in after you.

How old must I be to participate?

You had to be at least 18 years old.

How were the winners selected?

3 winners in total were selected and announced on 2025 12 12. The 1st & 2nd prize winners were selected by two well-known local DJs - DJ SWIX & YOUWIN TRAX. The 3rd prize winner was selected by yours truly, team Soundium.

Was I on video? What if I failed the mix?

Yes, you were on video. Your recorded mix (video and audio) was featured on our YouTube, so you, us and everyone else can see it. What if the mix turned out to be crap? If after the mix you decided not to participate, we talked and found a solution.

Could I play B2B with my DJing partner?

Yes, sure, why not. We allowed 2 people at the decks (as long as you agreed to split the prize into two parts). More people were only allowed at the booth as dancers!

What is the purpose of life?

We're not here for a long time - we're here for a good time!
