Introduction

Bookshelf speakers do almost everything right. They image well, they fit a room that has to stay a room, and they run out of air somewhere around 40 Hz. Everything below that is missing, and no amount of amplifier fixes it.

DALI announced the BASIK SUB on 1 September 2026 as the piece that closes that gap without introducing a new problem. An in-house 8-inch long-stroke paper-pulp woofer fires down into the floor from a cube measuring 31.9 × 29.5 × 31 cm, driven by a 170 W RMS Class D amplifier with 220 W of peak output.

Down-firing is the design decision that matters most here. It loads the floor evenly, so placement stops being a hunt for the one corner where the bass doesn't boom. And unlike almost every subwoofer at this price, it doesn't only come in black: Solid Black, Solid White, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue, matched to the DALI KUPID and SONIK 1 colourways.
