Zoom NEURIG: neural amp modeling and NAM A2 in a €349 battery-powered floor rig

TL;DR: The Zoom NEURIG is a compact floor modeler with Zoom's new DNA neural amp engine, native NAM A2-Lite captures, 139 effects, two touchscreens and a battery good for about 4.5 hours. Pre-order price at Soundium: €349, shipping in December 2026. The honest catch: the AI tools and the TONE3000 library run through a phone app, and four footswitches is a tight layout for stompbox-style players.

Introduction

Neural capture has been eating the modeler market from the top down. The Zoom NEURIG brings it to the price bracket where most players actually shop: €349 for a floor unit that loads NAM captures natively, runs on its own battery and fits a small pedalboard.

The headline is Zoom's DNA (Dynamic Neural Archive) engine. A normal capture is a snapshot of one amp at one setting. DNA models how the circuit responds across every knob position, so turning gain or EQ on the pedal behaves like turning it on the real amp. NEURIG ships with 30 of those DNA amp and effect models, plus 139 conventional effects.

Then there's NAM. NEURIG supports NAM A2-Lite natively, which opens the TONE3000 library of more than 700,000 free community captures and IRs through Zoom's SessionZ Pedal app. And from December you can capture your own amps and pedals over Wi-Fi, with the heavy processing done in the cloud.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Amps that react like amps: 30 DNA models learn how gain and EQ interact across the whole knob range, not just one setting.
  • A practically endless tone library: native NAM A2-Lite plus access to 700,000+ free TONE3000 captures and IRs.
  • Your own gear, captured: profile amps, pedals or a full signal chain through Wi-Fi cloud processing (available December 2026).
  • Better cabinets: 22 Multi-Layer IRs, each built from three IRs at different volumes, with selectable mics and positions, plus 50 slots for your own IRs.
  • Switch without gaps: up to 14 amps and effects per rig, 4 presets per rig, 200 rigs, and delay and reverb trails that ring out through changes.
  • AI in the app: Rig AI builds a rig from a text description, AI stem separation pulls guitar, bass, drums or vocals out of a song on your phone, and SessionZ Play streams tracks over Bluetooth to jam along.
  • Play anywhere: a replaceable battery for about 4.5 hours, USB-C power, an 850 g metal body.

Real-World Reactions

“With the Zoom Neurig, the Japanese manufacturer is presenting a floor modeler that almost seems too good to be true on paper at this price point.”
Julian Schmauch, gearnews.com
“If you’re a bit of a pedal hoarder, Zoom might have crafted the ultimate multi-tool for you.”
Emily Swingle, Guitar.com

Nobody has a production unit yet, so these are first-look reactions, not reviews. They match our read: the spec sheet is unusually generous for €349, and the real test will be how the DNA models and the app hold up on a gig.

Who It's For

  • Players moving up from a budget multi-effects unit who want neural amp tones without a four-figure price.
  • NAM users who want their captures on the floor, not on a laptop.
  • Gigging guitarists who need stereo outs, send/return for the 4-cable method and a rig that runs off a battery.
  • Home players who record over USB, practise on headphones and jam along to tracks.

Who should look elsewhere: if you want eight or more footswitches for stompbox-style control, or you'd rather not depend on a phone app for tone downloads and AI tools, a bigger floor unit will suit you better.

Final Thoughts

NEURIG is Zoom's most serious guitar product in years: a neural engine of its own, NAM support for everything else, and a battery so it goes wherever you do. If it plays as well as the spec sheet reads, €349 is going to look like a very small number.
